The best way to get rid of extra weight is an activity, like swimming, that does not put pressure on your legs and at the same time, sheds calories.
- Boosting flexibility: as a person ages, his or her calf muscles tend to tighten. This puts quite a bit of stress on the balls of the feet, it’s pretty uncomfortable. Stretching the calves at least three times a day can help a lot. There are simple exercises to do so.
- High heels: for women, high heels might attract admiring glances, but it comes with a cost. One study said that after only 2 hour of wearing them, women started to feel pain in their feet. Surely, room for thought!
- Wearing shoes that fit: do not neglect the feet when it comes to erring on the side of fashion. Your shoes might be trendy, but they are of no use if they are ill fitting and uncomfortable. A lot of people have been seen wearing shoes that are the same size for 30 years or more. It makes one wonder why the shoes didn’t fall off. As a person ages, the dimensions of his feet also change. These can lead to ingrown toenails, corns and calluses, deformed toes and heel pain besides a host of other problems. Visit a store with knowledgeable salespersons who can recommend ergonomic shoes.
- Sitting down during breaks: if your job includes a lot of legwork, then it’s highly recommend that you sit down in between during your breaks. Also, opt for sit down meals if it is your habit to grab eatables on the go.
